Five Reasons Why The Winnipeg Jets Will Win The Stanley Cup Before 2022

Five years away?  Maybe.  I doubt it, but maybe.  I believe the Jets have the skill to do it.  Skill that is only going to develop and get better.  We need a goalie.  Maybe a top six defenseman, but the writing is on the wall.  They're on their way to greener pastures (hopefully silver ones)

Back in May, 2015, The Hockey Writers, released an article claiming the Jets will win the Stanley Cup in 2020.  Not to be outdone, Ken Campbell of The Hockey News penned his own opinion piece in July, 2015, saying the Jets will win Lord Stanley's chalice a year earlier, in 2019.

Now, either way, I can dive into a full-on belief system about the Jets reigning the NHL in two or three short seasons.  The problem with that is, is it feasible?  Can the consistently inconsistent Jets find a savior goalie and the right mix of veterans and skillful rookies or sophomore players that can find that special "gel" that makes up a championship hockey team?  Eventually.  I have no doubt about it.  But within the next two years?  I'm erring on the side of caution (and the odds) and saying, I heavily doubt it.

It would be awesome, but not quite yet.

Is The Future Bright For The Winnipeg Jets?

Everyone seems to think so, even though they've been saying that after the Jets re-entered the league in 2011-2012 when they made their first selection in the NHL Entry Draft, picking Mark Scheifele in the first round, seventh overall.

Well, we all know what has happened since.  Or, to be more accurate, what hasn't happened.  What hasn't happened is progress.  Save for the franchise's only playoff appearance in 2015, expectations have been, to say the least, disappointing.

Whatever the reason, and there have been many, the Jets just can't find the right combination to be successful and to become a legitimate Stanley Cup contender.

So, what are they to do?  Judy Owen at the Canadian Press thinks she has the answer.

White Noise/Fuelled By Passion

I saw this not too long after the announcement of the Jets returning to Winnipeg.
It's called White Noise: The Sound of Hockey in Winnipeg.  I enjoyed it as I readily knew about the return and watched it with that anticipation in mind.
This was the first time I've seen it online without it being cut into parts; and with more original content.

And then there's this one:

Buh-Bye Oliers

Listen, I keep getting all this guff from people about how I should be patriotic and cheer for any and all remaining Canadian teams in this 2017 NHL playoffs.

Uh, no.

With a 40-plus-year rivalry between the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers (yeah, yeah.  No team for 15 years, blah, blah, blah) and with all the lack of success the Jets had against them (I'm even talking about the regular-season debacles that unfolded year after year; not just our annual early playoff exits)

How could anyone think I'd be glad to see the team that perennially dashed my hopes as a young Jets/hockey fan?  Shame on them.
Of course, these are the same people that give me guff for watching the Canadian Football League (Canadian) over the NFL (American).  Where is their patriotism then?  Oh.  Right.  It's hockey.  So all hypocrisy takes a powder.

Anyways, the Oilers are gone from the 2017 NHL playoffs, so they will no longer be a pervasive distraction to my enjoyment of the playoffs.  Seriously, how could I enjoy the pageantry and intensity of the NHL playoffs when all I can do is wish the demise of the hopes of my enemy?
Well, that's  done now.  The pressure's off.  Now, I can enjoy and still root for a Canadian team without being a hypocrite about it.

Oilers fans have had enough fun and success.  Does it matter to me that their last championship was in 1990?  Nope.  Does it matter that they haven't been to the final since 2006?  Nope,  Do I care that the Oilers, up until this year, didn't make the playoffs for 10 glorious years?  Nope.  In fact, it looked good on them.

The Oilers are gone.  All is right with the hockey world again.

What To Expect From The Jets At The Expansion Draft

On June 21st, the NHL will hold the Expansion draft to fill the roster of the new Vegas Golden Knights.  What will the Jets do?  Who will they protect?  Will the give up picks at the entry draft to keep a certain player?

An article at Jets Nation by Art Middleton gives us an idea of some of the options the Jets are looking at.
